MEMPHIS, TN – Third-ranked Wesleyan beat seventh-ranked Johns Hopkins, 4-0, in the fifth-place match of the 2025 ITA National Team Indoor Championship Sunday. The Blue Jays fall to 6-3 on the season while the Cardinals improve to 2-1.
Wesleyan earned wins at number one and two doubles to take the first point of the match. Natalia Leroy and Jackie Soloveychik grabbed the first win of the match with a 6-2 victory at two over
Jay Xiao and
Lia Melvin.
Sydney Langer and
Sahana Madala answered for the Blue Jays with a 6-2 win at number three versus Macie Carlos and Alexandra Burnett. Lane Durkin and Sarah Youngberg then defeated
Sophia Kim and
Ava Li in a tight 7-5 match at one to take the doubles' point.
Durken put Wesleyan up 2-0 in the match as she beat Langer 6-1, 6-1 at number three singles. Leroy then won a close 6-4, 6-4 decision at four over
Sahana Sanjeev. Soloveychik clinched the win for the Cardinals with a 7-6, 6-1 win at number one over Kim. The final three matches went unfinished.
Hopkins returns to action on Sunday, March 9 in its home opener versus Mount St. Mary's. The match is scheduled for a 12:00 pm start at the JHU Tennis Courts.
