Clapp Earns Bronze in 200 Fly; Blue Jays Garner 10 All-America Honors

GREENSBORO, NC – Avery Clapp led Johns Hopkins with a third-place finish in the 200 Fly at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. In all, the Blue Jays picked up 10 All-America honors on the third day of the championships. Hopkins is currently in 17th place with 75 points.
 
JHU opened the night with a second-place finish in the consolation final, 10th overall, in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of Aden Li, Jonathan Wang, Clapp and Adam Sandid combined for a time of 1:28.23 in the finals. It is the fourth fastest in program history.
 
Clapp then swam to a third-place finish in the championship final of the 200 Fly. It is his second third-place finish in the event and third top-four finish in his career. His finals' time of 1:44.82 is the third fastest in Johns Hopkins history. Wang followed with an eighth-place finish in the consolation final, 16th overall, in the 100 Breast with a time of 55.41.
 
The Blue Jays ended the third night of the championships with a 16th-place finish in the 800 Free Relay. Bryce Lloyd, Jay Heymann, Christian Mayr and Matthew Hartshorn turned in a time of 6:43.08. Hopkins has earned All-America honors in the 800 Free Relay every year since 1972.
 
Clapp now has 17 All-America honors in his career, the most of any active Blue Jay. Heymann now counts seven in his career while Lloyd has earned five All-America honors. Wang has garnered four honors at this year's championship and Hartshorn now has three in his career. Li and Mayr each have two All-America honors and Sandid earned his first.
 
The NCAA Championships conclude on Saturday, March 22 and the day begins with the prelim of the 100 Free.
