BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team kicked off the final day of the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Saturday.
The Blue Jays punched up a pair of top-15 national times in the first of five heats in the 1500-meter run. Graduate student
Annie Huang was the top collegiate finisher and crossed in 4:29.14, the ninth-best time in the nation to-date and the fourth-fastest time in Hopkins history. Just behind with the 12
th-best national time to-date and eighth-fastest in school history was junior
Emma Kothari, who clocked in at 4:30.28. Huang shaved more than eight seconds off her previous personal best, while Kothari shaved just over five seconds off her previous PR.
In a field of 38 entries in the 100-meter dash, Johns Hopkins sophomore
Chloe Zhang, who crossed in 12.38, placed fifth with the fifth-fastest time in program history, while junior
Claire Wang narrowly missed a top-10 finish as she placed 12
th in 12.75.
Junior
Lorna Arcese posted a season-best time of 1:04.54 to place seventh overall in the 400-meter hurdles with a time that cracked the top 50 (41
st) nationally this season along with the fifth-fastest time in school history.
In the 100-meter hurdles, freshman
Claudia Ouimet clocked in at 15.35 to earn a fourth-place finish. Juniors
Abigail Lovelace (16.82) and Evelyn Kim (17.41) hit personal bests on the day.
In a field of 12 in the 4x400-meter relay, the Blue Jays grabbed four of the top-six spots as the contingent of
Lauren Phillips,
Lorna Arcese,
Ryan Bigelow and
Harrinee Senthilkumar took home a first-place finish, crossing the line in 3:55.15.
Cameron Coletti led a pair of Blue Jays in the steeplechase as she crossed the line in 11:37.50 to place third. Senior
Natasha Lewis joined her in the top-six with a sixth-place finish (12:08.42). Both student-athletes set personal-bests in the event.

In the field,
Clarissa Newman continued her impressive rookie campaign as she set the freshman record in the pole vault, placing third with a season-best mark of 3.65-meters, which also ranks 28
th in the nation to-date and second among Hopkins all-time top-10.
In the shot put's field of 21 entries, Hopkins drew three top-seven finishes.
Erika Ezumba grabbed her second first-place finish of the night with a 12.75-meter throw, while
Phoebe Williams finished third with the 10
th-fartest throw in school history (11.68 meters) and
Kellen Ievers in seventh (10.92 meters).
In addition to her showing the 100-meter dash, sophomore
Chloe Zhang also placed second in the long jump as she marked at 5.44-meters – the sixth-farthest mark in program history. The mark is a season-best for Zhang and put her just inside the top 50 nationally (48
th) as of today's events.
The Blue Jays nabbed four top-six finishes in the javelin as
Claudia Ouimet (1
st | 34.54 meters) and
Phoebe Williams (2
nd | 34.30 meters) went one-two, with
Carina Beritela (5
th | 30.20 meters) and
Jaclyn Donoho (6
th | 30.18 meters) going five-six. Ouimet's mark was a personal-best, while Beritela's was a season-best.
Johns Hopkins went one-two in a field of 15 as junior
Erika Ezumba eased to a first-place finish showing with a 40.98-meter throw, while classmate
Kellen Ievers placed second as she marked at 36.46-meters.
Senior
Sara Bartlett marked the ninth-farthest jump nationally this season, taking first with an 11.84-meter jump.
Jaclyn Donoho led a trio of Blue Jays in the high jump as she cleared 1.55 meters to place fourth.
The Blue Jays are back in action Thursday, April 24, at the Penn Relays, with action scheduled to begin at 8 PM in the 5000m.
