Lloyd, Clapp Named to CSC Academic All-America Team

Duo Becomes Hopkins' 24 and 25th Men's Swimming AAAs

AUSTIN, TX – Johns Hopkins juniors Bryce Lloyd and Avery Clapp have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Men's Swimming & Diving Team it was announced today. Lloyd was named to the second time and Clapp was named to the third team.
 
The Blue Jay men's swimming team has now produced 25 CSC Academic All-Americans, third most for any team in Johns Hopkins' history. Nine of the 25 selections have come in the last three seasons. Lloyd and Clapp each earn Academic All-America honors for the first time.
 
Lloyd is majoring in chemical and biomolecular engineering. He earned All-America honors in the 800 Free Relay and 200 Back at the 2025 NCAA Championships. He counts six All-America honors in three championship appearances. Lloyd is the fourth fastest performer in the 200 Back in Johns Hopkins history. He is a member of the 400 Medley Relay team that boasts the 10th fastest time in program history.
 
Lloyd is an undergraduate research assistant in the Wirtz Lab at Johns Hopkins and was a CAR-T Cell Therapy intern at AstraZeneca last summer. He is also a teaching assistant for Introduction to Chemical & Biomolecular Process Analysis, as well as a Learning Den personalized tutor. In addition, Lloyd is a Special Olympics Maryland swim coach and a AIChe Big/Little Mentorship Program mentor.
 
Clapp is a double major in computer science and economics. He garnered All-America honors six times at this year's championship, including a runner-up finish in the 200 Back. He has earned All-America honors 18 times in his career, tied for 16 most in JHU history. Clapp holds school records in the 200 Back and 200 Fly as well as freshman records in the 200 Back, 100 Fly and 200 Fly.
 
Clapp is a machine learning researcher at the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering. He was a software engineering intern at NaviStone Inc last summer. In addition, he was a quantitative developer at the Institute for Applied Economics for 18 months. Clapp is also a member of the Johns Hopkins Student Conduct and Ethics Board.
