BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins celebrated Senior Night with a 7-0 win over Haverford Friday evening. The 10
th-ranked Blue Jays improve to 11-7 on the season while the 17
th-ranked Fords fall to 14-4.
The Blue Jays opened the match with a doubles' sweep to take the point headed into singles.
Marco Azar and
Mukundh Boopathi took the first win of the match when they beat Teo Bortan and Zach Miano, 6-1, at number three. The Blue Jays then took one and two doubles in quick succession.
Allen Gong and
Chakor Rajendra beat Marko Arboleda and Owen Kilmer, 6-4, at two.
Daniel Ardila and
Dylan Blenkiron won 7-5 at one over James McKenzie and Justin Minerva.
Azar grabbed the first singles' win as he beat Chait Krishna 6-2, 6-1 at number six to put the Jays up 2-0. Rajendra then won 6-1, 6-4 over Arboleda at one while Gong beat Niki Lavu 6-0, 6-2 to clinch the win for Hopkins.
Zahari Stoimenov defeated Minerva 6-1, 7-5 at five. Ardila beat Kilmer 7-6 (8), 6-2 at number three and Blenkiron prevailed in three sets over McKenzie. He won 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to wrap up the match.
Hopkins returns to action with a pair of road matches on Sunday, April 27. JHU will visit Franklin & Marshall at 10:00 am as well as Swarthmore at 2:00 pm.
