BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins posted a pair of 6-1 road wins on Sunday, including a top-10 win. Hopkins opened the day with a win at 38
th-ranked Franklin & Marshall and then won at eighth-ranked Swarthmore. The two wins run the Blue Jays' win streak to eight as they improve to 13-7.
At the Diplomats
Hopkins swept the doubles matches to take the 1-0 lead into singles.
Daniel Ardila and
Dylan Blenkiron needed just six game to beat Zac Ashtiani and Gonzalo Gentou at number one.
Marco Azar and
Mukundh Boopathi then secured the doubles point with a 6-2 win at three versus Tucker Chesman and Campbell Gervais.
Chakor Rajendra and
Allen Gong completed the sweep when they beat Soren Rudin-Aulenbach and Luke Brodsky, 7-5, at two.
Brian Yi opened singles play with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Donnelly at number three.
Hanyu Liu followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win at one over Brodsky.
Jack Wexler then clinched the victory when he beat Chesman 7-6, (8), 6-2 at six.
Joshua Kim grabbed a 6-3, 7-6 (5) victory at four over Rudin-Aulenbach. Gentou took a point for the Diplomats with a three-set win over
Pranav Gadiraju at five.
Jason Liu closed out the win with a come-from-behind three-set win at two versus Ashtiani.
At the Garnet
The Blue Jays once again took the doubles point to head into singles play with the lead. Winston Zhang and Max Lindstrom won 6-3 over Azar and Boopathi at number three. Ardila and Blenkiron answered with a 6-3 win versus Michael Melnikov and Utham Koduri at one. The doubles point would be decided at two and it was Hopkins that prevailed. Rajendra and Gong won 7-5 over Andres Fente and Kai Chen.
Azar pushed the Blue Jays' lead to 2-0 with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Fente at number six singles.
Zahari Stoimenov followed with a 6-1, 7-6 victory at five versus Chen. Blenkiron clinched the win when he beat Lalith Suresh 7-5, 6-3 at three.
Gong rallied to win 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 versus Rishi Verma at number four. Melnikov won a close 7-6, 6-7, 1-0 (8) match at one over Rajendra to pick up a point for the Garnet. Ardila closed out the win with a 7-6, 7-6 win over Lindstrom at number two.
Hopkins wraps up the regular season on Wednesday at Gettysburg. The match is scheduled for a 4:00 pm start.
