Johns Hopkins Takes Two in Regular Season Finale

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins wrapped up the regular season with a pair of home wins on Sunday. Hopkins opened the day with a 5-2 win over 34th-ranked Washington & Lee and then wrapped up the day with a 7-0 win over 44th-ranked Haverford. The Blue Jays improve to 12-7 overall.
 
Versus the Generals
Hopkins swept the doubles matches to secure the point heading into singles play. Sydney Langer and Sahana Madala took the first win, 6-1, over Riho Iijima and Lauren Long at number three. Ava Li and Kamila Wong then clinched the point with a 6-1 win over Isabella Custard and Annie Jennings at two. Lia Melvin and Jay Xiao completed the sweep when they won 6-3 over Sarah Donnelly and Allie Murrell at number one.
 
Madala pushed the Blue Jays lead to two when she beat Jennings 6-0, 6-4 at number five singles. Sahana Sanjeev then won 6-4, 6-3 at two over Murrell and JHU led 3-0. Wong clinched the win with a 7-6 (4), 6-3 win over Iijima over at six.
 
Grace Lorenz grabbed a point for the Generals with a three-set win over Melvin at number three. Li answered with a 6-1, 7-6 (2), 1-0 (9) win at four versus Donnelly to make it 5-1 Blue Jays. Long picked up another point for WLU and closed out the match with a three-setter. She won 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (4) over Langer at number one.
 
Versus the Fords
Hopkins won all nine matches to shutout visiting Haverford in the afternoon. Li and Wong opened doubles with a 6-1 win over Racheal Fitzgerald and Mallika Reddy at number one. Catharina Ausfahl and Bea Manjon then secured the doubles point with a 6-0 versus Caroline Gay and Erika Phanord at three. Madala and Sophia Kim completed the sweep when they won 6-2 over Lucy King and Abhishree Menon at two.
 
Aubrey Zhou earned the first singles win when she beat Phanord without dropping a game at number four. Zoe Hsieh turned the same trick over Gray at six. Sanjeev clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Reddy at three.
 
Kim then beat King 6-0, 7-6 (2) at number two singles to put the Blue Jays up 5-0. Xiao grabbed a tough 7-6 (8), 4-6, 1-0 (5) win over Fitzgerald at one. Audrey Wijono closed out the win as she rallied to beat Menon 6-7 (2), 6-1, 1-0 (7) at five.
 
Hopkins will await a possible at-large berth to the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The field is scheduled to be announced on Monday, May 5 at 12:00 pm.
 
Notes: Wong is now tied for 19th in JHU history with 37 career singles wins and tied for 13th with 82 total wins • Jay Xiao is tied for 18th with 42 career doubles wins and 23rd with 73 career wins.
