Johns Hopkins Leads Final Winter Directors' Cup Standings

JHU Holds 138-Point Lead on Second-Place NYU

CLEVELAND, OH – With six teams qualifying for NCAA Championship competition in the winter, Johns Hopkins maintained its lead in the 2024-25 Learfield Directors' Cup standings at the end of the winter season it was announced today.  The six teams accumulated 369.5 Directors' Cup points; coupled with the 495.5 points that seven Blue Jay teams earned in the fall, Johns Hopkins now has 865.0 points on the year and leads second-place NYU by 138 points as the Violets have accumulated 727.0 points. 
 
This is the fourth time in five years that Johns Hopkins has led the Directors' Cup standings at the conclusion of the winter.  Johns Hopkins has won the Directors' Cup in each of the last two years.

Why They Vary
Directors' Cup points accumulated can vary by sport based on the size of a team bracket or the number of teams that score points at a particular NCAA championship (note the difference a run to the round of 16 for women's basketball compared to a 13th-place finish for women's swimming).
 
The Big Picture
There are more than 400 schools competing under the NCAA Division III banner and 278 of those schools have scored points in the Directors' Cup standings through the winter.
 
About the the Learfield Directors' Cup
 The Learfield IMG Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  Through the course of the year, Directors' Cup points are awarded based on a school's finish in up to 18 sports in NCAA Championships.
