Luke Mendelsohn has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF)/S&R Sport Newcomer of the Week. This is his second MPSF Newcomer of the Week award and this is the third straight week a Blue Jay has earned the award.
Mendelsohn totaled 13 points (9g, 4a), seven steals, three blocks and four draw ejections for Johns Hopkins in a 3-2 weekend at the Bruno Invite. He opened the weekend with four goals, three steals, one block and one drawn ejection in a 19-12 win over #4 Chapman. He followed that with two points (1g, 1a), two steals and one block in a one-goal win over #8. MIT.
Mendelsohn capped a three-game day with a hat trick and one steal in a 18-10 win over Conn College. On Sunday, he scored and assisted on two others, to go with one steal and two drawn ejections in a tough one-goal loss to #2 Pomona-Pitzer. He wrapped up the weekend with one assist, one block and one drawn ejection in a loss to host and #18 Brown.
Mendelsohn leads the Blue Jays with 45 points and 32 steals. He ranks third with 28 goals and 19 assists and is second with six blocks.
Hopkins (10-3) is back in the pool on Sunday, September 28 as the Blue Jays host Mount St. Mary's. JHU's home opener is slated for a 5:00 pm start.
