Johns Hopkins Blanks Unbeaten Dickinson, 3-0

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins scored a goal in each of the first three quarters to hand 14th-ranked Dickinson its first loss of the season, 3-0. The Blue Jays improve to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial Conference while the Red Devils fall to 9-1 and 1-1 in the conference.

Hopkins got on the board late in the first as the Blue Jays capitalized on their fourth corner. Ada Farmer fired a hard shot from the top of the circle that was saved by Taylor Morrow, but Eliza Vander corralled the rebound and lifted it over Morrow with 1:21 to play in the first.

Nearly 15 minutes later, the Blue Jays doubled their lead. Sophia Builione collected her own rebound off a Morrow save and poked it under the Red Devils' keeper and into the cage with 1:38 on the clock. Midway through the third quarter, Hopkins earned a penalty stroke and Jenna Halpin fired it into the right side of the cage to stake the Blue Jays to a 3-0 lead.

Aubrey Kilgore played three quarters in the cage for the Blue Jays and made three saves. Jessica Lapidus played the second quarter and was not forced to make a save. Morrow tallied eight saves for the Red Devils while Maggie Carson and Calyn Clements added defensive saves. Hopkins finished with a 22-5 advantage in shots and a 13-4 edge in corners. The Blue Jays' three goals are the most allowed by the Red Devils this season.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, October 4 as the Blue Jays visit 23rd-ranked Ursinus. The Centennial Conference contest is scheduled for a 12:00 pm start.
