FAIRFAX, VA – The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team turned in a strong performance Friday at the Patriot Games, hosted by George Mason University, showcasing its depth in the distance events while competing against a field that included Division I programs. Day one was highlighted by
Cameron Coletti, who posted one of the fastest times in the nation this season.
Earlier this week, the Blue Jays' 5000m squad was ranked second nationally in the latest USTFCCCA Event Squad Rankings, and Coletti—along with
Rachel Allison,
Becca Herrick and
Ainsley Edwards—backed up that ranking with standout performances. Coletti led the group with a sixth-place finish overall, clocking a personal-best 18:09.92, the 61
st-fastest time in the nation this season. Allison followed with a personal-best 18:49.06 to place ninth, while Herrick rounded out the top 10 with a time of 18:53.17. Edwards finished just outside the top 10, placing 11
th with an 18:53.35.
Hopkins was also represented in the pentathlon by
Jaclyn Donoho and
Julia Widen. With all five events completed, Donoho finished fifth overall with 2,944 points, while Widen placed 11
th with 2,528 points.
Donoho recorded her top finishes of the day with a pair of fourth-place results in the shot put and high jump. She tied her personal best in the shot put with a throw of 8.76 meters (28-9) and cleared 1.55 meters (5-1) in the high jump. Donoho also set a personal record in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a 9.62.
Widen's strongest event of the pentathlon came in the 800 meters, where the sophomore placed fourth overall with a time of 2:37.28.
Johns Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, January 31, to conclude competition at the Patriot Games. Events at the George Mason Field House are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
