National Marks Highlight Distance Effort at David Hemery Valentine; Jumps Deliver at Widener

Distance Contingent Posts Top Time Nationally

BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team delivered a series of standout performances Saturday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and the Widener Indoor Classic, posting some of the top marks in Division III this season and adding several entries to the program's all-time top-10 lists.
 
Hopkins' distance contingent set the tone at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, recording nationally ranked times in the mile, 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs.
 
Emma Kothari led a trio of Blue Jays in the mile, producing one of the fastest performances in the nation this year. Competing in a 254-athlete field representing all three NCAA divisions, Kothari placed 54th overall with a personal-best 4:51.22—the sixth-fastest time in Division III this season and the fifth-fastest in program history.
 
Ani Wedemeyer followed with a personal-best 4:54.31, ranking 11th nationally this season and ninth on the Hopkins all-time list. Diana Valentini added a 5:03.01, which ranks 72nd nationally in Division III.
 
In the 3,000-meter run, Adriana Catalano led another strong Hopkins showing. Facing a 221-athlete field across all divisions, she clocked a 9:33.78 to finish as the second Division III runner overall. Her time ranks fourth nationally this season. Aisling Callahan (9:56.10) and Elena Blodnikar (9:58.54) also turned in nationally ranked performances, sitting 43rd and 52nd in Division III, respectively.
 
Hopkins continued its distance success in the 5,000-meter run. Mia Kotler posted a personal-best 16:49.85, the sixth-fastest time in Division III this season and seventh-fastest in program history. Cooper Brotherton added a 17:34.98, ranking 41st nationally.
 
The Blue Jay sprinters also made their mark, posting nationally competitive times and multiple all-time program performances in the 60, 200 and 400-meter dashes.
 
Mirra Klimov placed eighth in the 60-meter invitational, running 7.75 in both the prelims and final. In the 60-meter open, Ellie Lewis led three Blue Jays with a fifth-place finish and a personal-best 7.98—the eighth-fastest time in school history. She was the third-fastest Division III finisher in the field. Leah Valentine placed 12th (8.09), and Anna Zinsser finished 18th (8.16).
 
Lewis continued her strong day in the 200-meter dash, clocking a personal-best 25.39. The mark ranks second in program history and 55th nationally this season. Lianne Saussy recorded the third-fastest time in school history (25.76 | PR), while Zinsser added the fifth-fastest mark in program history (26.04 | PR).
 
In the 400-meter open, Gabrielle Moore led another trio of Blue Jays with a personal-best 58.08—the third-fastest time in school history and 58th nationally this season. Saussy followed with the fourth-fastest mark in program history (58.30 | PR), ranking 68th nationally, while Madison Moore posted a personal-best 58.69, good for ninth all-time at Hopkins.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of Saussy, Gabrielle Moore, Madison Moore and Lorna Arcese capped the meet with a 3:55.05, the fifth-fastest time in program history, finishing 20th overall.
 
At the Widener Indoor Classic, Chloe Zhang highlighted Hopkins' field performances with a second-place finish in the long jump. Her leap of 5.48 meters (17-11.75) was the top mark among Division III competitors in the field and ranks 44th nationally this season.
 
Clarissa Newman added a runner-up finish in the pole vault, clearing 3.80 meters (12-5.5)—the highest clearance among Division III competitors in the event. Jaclyn Donoho placed seventh in the high jump with a 1.55-meter (5-1) effort.
 
On the track, Sydney Shock closed out the meet with a personal-best 10:20.83 in the 3,000-meter run, finishing fourth overall.
 
Johns Hopkins returns to competition on Saturday, February 28, at the Centennial Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Franklin & Marshall College. Events at the Schnader Field House are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
