MANHEIM, PA – The Johns Hopkins wrestling team placed two athletes on the 2026 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Scholar All-America Team it was recently announced. Junior
Freddy Pimental and sophomore
Duncan Stadler both grabbed a spot on the team and their selection boosts Johns Hopkins' total number of NWCA Scholar All-Americans to 79 since 1984. Pimental is making his second appearance on the team, while the selection is the first for Stadler.

In addition, Johns Hopkins posted a 3.785 team GPA to rank fourth among all NCAA Division III teams in the Scholar All-America Team category. The top 30 programs in the nation (by GPA) earned Scholar All-America Team recognition.

The criteria for individual NWCA Scholar All-America honors is as follows:

WRESTLINGÂ - Must accomplish at least one of the following two:
- Place in top eight in the regional tournamentÂ
- Wrestle at least 15 matches and have a win percentage greater than 66%.

ACADEMICSÂ - Must accomplish at least one of the following two:
- Must have an average GPA of 3.2 over the last 2 semesters or quarters or last 3 trimesters
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2

Pimental, who is majoring in molecular & cellular biology and carries a 3.99 cumulative GPA, posted a 28-14 record this season at 149 to boost his career record to 77-41. His 28 wins led the team and he counted two pins, 13 technical falls and five major decisions among his 28 victories on the year.  His 13 technical falls tied the Johns Hopkins single-season record, while he also broke the JHU career record as his 13 technical falls this season boosted his career total to 23. Pimental placed third at the Centennial Conference Championships and eighth at the NCAA Regional Championships and already ranks second in school history in career bonus-point victories (56).

Stadler carries a 3.45 cumulative GPA and is majoring in mechanical engineering. The Blue Jays' starter at 133, he posted a 16-20 record this season with four pins, six technical falls and one major decision to his credit. He placed eighth at the NCAA Regional Championships and added a third-place finish at the Shenandoah Invitational and a fifth-place showing at Etown's Blue Jay Classic. Stadler is 31-39 in his career with 22 of his 31 wins earning bonus points (five majors, seven technical falls and 10 pins).
