Ninth-Inning Rally Falls Short as Dickinson Edges Hopkins, 8-6

Blue Jays Move to 26-6 Overall; 9-2 in Conference Play

CARLISLE, PA – The No. 3/3 Johns Hopkins baseball team mounted a ninth-inning comeback but ultimately fell to Dickinson, 8-6, Tuesday afternoon at MacPhail Field. The loss drops the Blue Jays to 26-6 overall and 9-2 in conference play and marks their first back-to-back defeats of the 2026 season.

Coming off a career-high 10-strikeout performance, Hopkins starter Michael Yousef struggled to find his rhythm early. Dickinson's offense jumped out to a 7-0 lead through the first three innings, fueled by back-to-back run-scoring doubles in the first and a four-run second inning. A Hopkins defensive miscue in the third allowed the Red Devils to tack on their seventh run.

The Blue Jays' bats were held quiet for much of the afternoon until Hamilton Adams sparked the offense with a leadoff single in the sixth. Hopkins finally broke through as William Jaun plated a run with a sacrifice fly, followed by an RBI single from Lukas Geer. Geer struck again in the eighth with a run-scoring double, trimming the Dickinson lead to 7-3. The momentum was briefly halted by a 60-minute lightning delay. When play resumed in the bottom of the eighth, Dickinson managed to draw a bases-loaded walk to extend their lead to 8-3.

Refusing to go quietly, the Blue Jays stormed back in the ninth. Damian Brown and Shane Keough ignited the rally with consecutive walks to lead off the inning. Aaron Monzon drove home Brown with an RBI single to cut the deficit in half. Jacob Harris kept the pressure on, poking an RBI single to bring the Jays within three, and Alex Shane lifted a sacrifice fly to make it an 8-6 game. Despite putting the go-ahead run on base in the final frame, the Blue Jays could not complete the miracle comeback as Dickinson escaped with the win.

Hopkins looks to split the season series this Friday, April 17, as they host Dickinson for the second leg of the home-and-home. First pitch at Babb Field at Stromberg Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m.
