Blue Jays Snap Skid with 22-Run Barrage versus Dickinson, 22-4

Collins Tosses Complete-Game; Records 299th Career Strikeout

BALTIMORE, MD – The No. 4/5 Johns Hopkins baseball team snapped a two-game skid in emphatic fashion Friday afternoon, using a 22-run offensive barrage and a historic performance from Kieren Collins to run-rule Dickinson, 22-4, at Babb Field at Stromberg Stadium. With the victory, the Blue Jays improve to 27-6 overall and 10-2 in conference play.

Needing a stabilizing performance after a mid-week loss to the Red Devils, Collins delivered. Making his 60th career start—now the second-most in NCAA Division III history—Collins was dominant from the jump, retiring the side in order to open the contest.

The Hopkins bats responded with a vengeance, plating four runs in the opening frame. William Jaun got the scoring started with an RBI single before Lukas Geer cleared the bases with a three-run blast to left, staking the Blue Jays to an early 4-0 lead.

While Dickinson (19-13, 5-7) showed life in the second inning—pulling within one at 4-3 on a Miguel Reich home run—the Blue Jays responded with 18 runs over the next four innings.

The middle-inning surge was highlighted by a Clay Hartje two-run home run in the third and a six-run fourth inning fueled by doubles from Hartje and Luke Baker. The onslaught culminated in a 10-run explosion across the fifth and sixth innings, punctuated by a William Jaun grand slam that pushed the lead to its final 22-4 margin.

Collins (4-0) earned the complete-game win, tossing 7.0 innings and allowing just four runs on six hits while striking out seven. Fittingly, he recorded his 299th career strikeout to secure the final out of the game.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, April 18, traveling to Swarthmore, PA for a doubleheader against Swarthmore. First pitch at Clothier Baseball Field is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
