BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins shutout visiting Howard, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 10-6 on the season while the Bison slip to 5-12.
The Blue Jays and the Bison split at one and two doubles, but JHU earned the doubles' point with a default at three. Camille Hall and Selah Stibbins won 6-4 over
Ava Li and
Kamila Wong at one, while
Lia Melvin and
Sahana Madala beat Lauren Oliver and Franchesa Brown, 6-3, at two.
Hopkins also picked up wins by default at five and six singles to give the home team a 3-0 lead in the match. JHU swept one through four singles in straight sets. Melvin dropped just three games in her win over Brown at one. Li nearly turned the same trick, losing four games in her win at three versus Hall. Wong on 7-5, 6-3 over Hall at two and Madala beat Oliver 6-4, 6-2 at four.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, April 25 at Haverford. The match is scheduled for an 11:00 am start.
