FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Sahana Madala lived up to her number one seed as she lost just one set in six matches en route to winning the 2026 ITA Southeast Regional Singles Championship Monday. She is the fourth Blue Jay to win the regional singles title and the first since 2016. Madala advances to the ITA Cup, which is set to begin on October 15 in Rome, GA.
 
In addition, Ruth Sun won the Blue 1 Singles draw and paired with Aubrey Zhou to win the Blue Doubles draw.
 
Championship Singles
Madala opened with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Aarti Prochonow (HC) and then won 6-4, 6-0 over Claire De Donder (SC). In the round of 16, she beat ninth-seeded Allie Murrell (WLU) 6-2, 6-3. She followed that with a 6-1, 6-0 win over teammate Jasmine Nguyen, also seeded ninth. Madala then grabbed a 6-1, 7-5 win over Maya Diyasheva (CMU), also seeded ninth, to advance to the title match. There she squared off against second-seeded Shelly Zinchenko 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 to claim the championship and All-America honors.
 
Claire Loftus joined Madala and Nguyen in the quarterfinals. Loftus, seeded fifth, did not drop a game in her round of 64 win over Jolie Zink (HC). She then beat Nehir Ertan (CMU) 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the round of 16, where she prevailed in three sets, winning in a tiebreaker, over ninth-seeded Kendal Chang (CNU). In the quarterfinals, Loftus dropped a tough 1-6, 7-6 (1), 1-0 (9) to Diyasheva. Nguyen opened with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Uma Pogrebivsky (SC) and then beat Anna Bong (CNU) 6-3, 6-2. In the round of 16, she earned a tight three-set win over fifth-seeded Ahona Chowdhury (CMU) 5-7, 7-6 (7), 1-0 (8). Nguyen's run ended in the quarterfinals to Madala.
 
Isabelle Emmanuel, seeded fifth, lost just two games in her opening match against Lindsey Bergelin (CNU). She then beat Erin Li (SC) 6-3, 7-6 (2) to advance to the round of 16. Emmanuel dropped a close 7-5, 7-6 (5) match to Ancele Dolensek (CMU). Sahana Sanjeev did not lose a game in her first-round win over Chloe Monachelli (FMC). She won a close 7-6 (0), 7-6 (4) match over teammate and ninth-seeded Isabel He in the round of 32. Sanjeev then lost to fifth-seeded Kylie Schaefer (CNU) 6-3, 7-6 (5). Sydney Langer, seeded ninth, needed just 14 games to beat Susanna Whitehead (WLU) in the round of 64. She followed that with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Natlie Kim (UMW). Langer then fell to Zinchenko 6-2, 6-2 in the round of 16.
 
Blue Singles
 Sun opened with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Maya Stilling (SC) and then beat Haley Stoltz (WLU) 8-4. In the semifinals, she won 8-2 over Diya Gupta (SC) and then Victoria Gazda (CMU) 8-3 in the final match. Zhou beat Annie Nemoy (CUA) 6-1, 6-3 in the opening round before falling to Gazda 8-4.
 
Championship Doubles
In the championship doubles draw, Madala and He advanced to the semifinals as a fifth seed to lead the Blue Jays. After a first-round bye, Madala and He beat Jiaxiaoqi Wen and Kaylee Hobbick (SIT), 8-2. The duo then beat ninth-seeded Greer Webb and Margarette Berdy (WLU) 8-2 to advance to the quarterfinals. Madala and He did not drop a game as they beat Gazda and Ertan. Their run ended in the semifinals to Diyasheva and Chowdhury, 8-7 (1), the eventual champions.
 
Loftus and Nguyen earned a spot in the quarterfinals as a fifth seed. The pair had a first-round bye and then didn't drop a game as they beat Lydia Pratt and Isabella Gustafson (RC). They then won 8-5 over Murrell and Mary Kate Kahl, seeded ninth. Loftus and Nguyen lost in the quarterfinals to fourth-seeded Zinchenko and Rachel Li.

Langer and Ava Li, seeded second in the draw, won a close 8-6 match over Alix Dry and Lorena Piegas (SIT) in the round of 32. The pair then fell to Sophia Broomall and Brianna Stewart (UMW), 8-5. Emmanuel and Lia Melvin, seeded ninth, opened with an 8-2 win over Prochnow and Mallika Reddy in the round of 32. The duo then fell to fifth-seeded Bong and Chang, 8-6, in the round of 16. Sanjeev and Sophia Kim, seeded third, had a first-round bye and then fell 8-4 to Diyasheva and Chowdhury.
 
Blue Doubles
Sun and Zhou lost a total of just five games in four matches as they won the Blue Doubles title. The pair opened with an 8-3 win over Taylor Lopez and Madison Gerecke (DC). They then shutout Christina Moreira and Elaina Nesbitt (CUA). In the semifinals, Sun and Zhou beat Lexi Hackbirth and Zoe Vliegen, 8-1. The duo followed that with an 8-1 win over Isabela Florez and Marina Foureaux in the final.
