Karagoz Hill Named Assistant Women's Tennis Coach

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins women's tennis coach Michael Herman announced the appointment of Naz Karagoz Hill as an assistant coach with the program. Karagoz Hill comes to Homewood from Washington College, where she spent three seasons.

"Naz's drive, work ethic, passion for the sport, and, most importantly, her unwavering devotion and commitment to her players make her one of the best young coaches in the game," said Herman. "Adding her to our coaching staff will allow us to take the next step forward as a program and continue to support, challenge, and develop our scholar-athletes both on and off the court."

Karagoz Hill joined the WC staff in the fall of 2023 as an assistant for both the men's and women's programs. One year later, she was promoted to associate head coach. She helped the Shoremen to a pair of Centennial Conference Tournament appearances and coached eight All-CC selections, including the 2025 CC Rookie of the Year. On the women's side, Karagoz Hill coached five all-conference selections while helping the team to the CC Tournament three times.

Karagoz Hill played three seasons at Tulane University, earning All-American Athletic Conference honors in her freshman campaign. She was the Green Wave's number one singles as a sophomore and junior. She then transferred to Norfolk State for a graduate year with the Spartans and became the program's first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Year. She led Norfolk State to its first-ever MEAC Northern Division regular season title.

"It's an honor to join the Johns Hopkins community and become part of a program with such a strong tradition of excellence," Karagoz Hill said. "I look forward to helping our scholar-athletes grow both as competitors and as people while building on the culture and success of Hopkins Tennis. I would like to thank Coach Herman and the department for this opportunity. I'm excited to get to work!"

Karagoz Hill has competed on the professional tour, reaching a career-high of 966 WTA singles ranking and a career-high ITF World Junior singles ranking of 269. She also played with the Turkish National Team. Karagoz Hill earned a bachelor's degree in management & marketing from Tulane and a master's degree in mass communication & public relations from Norfolk State.
