CHATTANOOGA, TN –
Lia Melvin advanced to the NCAA Semifinals in singles on Saturday. In the doubles championship,
Ava Li and
Kamila Wong fell in the quarterfinals.
Melvin prevailed in three sets over fifth-seeded Eliana Hanna (Washington Univ). Melvin took the first set 6-4, but Hanna answered with a 6-3 win in the second. Melvin then claimed the third set in a another close one, 6-4, to take the match. She is the first Blue Jay to make the semifinals of the NCAA Singles Championship.
In the doubles draw, Li and Wong dropped a tight 6-4, 7-5 match to Hanna and Ally Lin in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The pair finish the season with a 21-7 record, the most wins by a doubles' pair in program history. In addition, the duo is 40-13 in the last two seasons. Wong ends her career with a 71-34 record in doubles, ranking second in school history in doubles' wins. She also ranks third with 124 combined wins.
