NEWARK, DE – Johns Hopkins wrapped up play at the Villanova/Delaware Invitational Saturday with matches against Cornell and Villanova.
In singles' matches versus Cornell
Lia Melvin grabbed a tight 7-5, 7-6 win over Michelle Ryndin. Victoria Zhao topped
Sydney Langer 7-5, 6-2. Martha Thompson took a three-setter against
Claire Loftus 1-6, 6-1, 1-0. Against Villanova,
Isabelle Emmanuel earned a 7-6, 6-1 win over Jenna Stevens.
Isabel He beat Maddie Hills 6-2, 6-2.
Jasmine Nguyen fell in three to Bella De Luise, 6-1, 4-6, 1-0. Anne Moody won 6-3, 6-4 over
Sophia Kim. Alina Kornyeva won 6-4, 6-3 over
Sahana Sanjeev.
In doubles play versus the Big Red, Langer and Nguyen fell 8-3 to Sage Loudon and Ryndin. Melvin and
Ruth Sun lost a close 8-6 match to Athena Orzechowski and Thompson. Emmanuel and He also faced a tough match in an 8-7 loss to Dylan Gelber and Tanika Saravanan. Against the Wildcats, Kim and Sanjeev beat Jenna Stevens and Lauren Monti, 8-7. Loftus and
Sahana Madala beat Olivia Corcoran and Emersyn Isaac, 8-6.
