BALTIMORE, MD – Six Blue Jays earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-America honors it was announced by the association today. The Blue Jays produced one All-American in singles and three doubles teams. In addition, Johns Hopkins is ranked seventh in the final national poll.
JHU finished the season at 13-7 and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16, dropping a 4-3 heartbreaker to Carnegie Mellon. This is the fourth straight year that the Blue Jays are ranked in the top 10 in the final ITA Poll.
Lia Melvin earned All-America honors in singles and doubles with
Jay Xiao.

Ava Li,
Claire Loftus and
Sahana Madala each grab All-America honors in doubles. The Blue Jays' six All-Americans and three doubles' teams are the most of any team in the nation. JHU has now produced 11 ITA All-Americans in singles and 22 in doubles.
Melvin finished the season ranked 16
th in the ITA after advancing to the NCAA Singles Championship. She led the Blue Jays with 18 wins and now ranks 15
th in program history with 42 career singles wins. Melvin is just the fourth Blue Jay to earn All-America honors in singles and doubles in the same season. She and Xiao went 8-3 on the season and earned All-America honors after finishing as the runner-up at the ITA Cup in October. Melvin is tied for 10
th with 52 career doubles wins, while Xiao is ninth with 53 wins. The pair is also ranked 35
th by the ITA.
Wong and Li earn All-America honors for the second straight year and is ranked fifth in the nation. It is the highest final ranking for a JHU doubles' team since 2012. The pair advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship and finished the season with a 21-7 record. Their 21 wins are the most by a Blue Jay doubles' team in program history. The pair posted an impressive 40-13 record, the most total wins by a doubles' team in the last 30 years. Wong finishes her career with 71 doubles wins, second most in program history, while Li is tied for 21
st with 42 wins.
Loftus and Madala are ranked 12
th in the nation and earn All-America honors after winning the ITA Southeast Championship. This is the first time in program history that JHU has two doubles' teams ranked in the top 20 in the final ITA poll. Loftus and Madala went 19-9 on the season and the 19 wins are tied for third most by a doubles' team in JHU history. Loftus finished the season with 24 total doubles' wins, a school record. Madala totaled 22 wins, a career-best and tied for fourth most in JHU history.
