CHATTANOOGA, TN –
Lia Melvin will play in the NCAA Singles Championship after a come-from-behind win in Sunday's semifinal match.
Melvin took on Alessandra Sikharulidze (Babson) in a match-up of unseeded players in the semifinals. Sikharulidze, who had not a lost a set in her first three matches, took the first set 6-1. Melvin answered with a 6-3 win in the second to force a deciding set. And it was Melvin that came out on top, 6-3, to punch her ticket to the championship match.
Melvin is the first Johns Hopkins women's tennis player to play in the NCAA Singles Championship. The match is scheduled for Monday, May 25.
