O'Brien and Downey Earn Big Ten Player of the Week Honors

ROSEMONT, IL – Reagan O'Brien and Lacey Downey and were honored by the Big Ten after their performances in Johns Hopkins' 10-9 come-from-behind win at 19th-ranked Penn State Thursday night.
 
O'Brien was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season and Downey was named the Big Ten Midfielder of the Week for the sixth time.
 
O'Brien caused seven turnovers, picked up six ground balls and controlled one draw in the win over the Nittany Lions. She led a defense that held Penn State nearly six goals below its season average. O'Brien moved into second place in NCAA Division I history in caused turnovers and now has 233 in her career. She has 67 caused turnovers, second most in school history, and ranks second on the team in ground balls (51).
 
Downey scored three goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist. She also picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover versus the Nittany Lions. Downey leads the Blue Jays with 80 points and 56 ground balls and is tied for the team lead in assists (36). She also ranks second in goals (44), draws (32) and caused turnovers (32).
 
Hopkins travels to Ann Arbor, MI this week for the 2026 Big Ten Tournament. JHU will take on sixth-seeded Rutgers in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, April 22. Opening draw at U-M Lacrosse Stadium is slated for 6:00 pm.
