WASHINGTON, DC – Johns Hopkins senior midfielder
Matt Collison has been named a Tewaaraton Award nominee the Tewaaraton Award Foundation announced on Saturday, April 18 during the live national broadcast of the Johns Hopkins-Maryland men's lacrosse game.
Collison is one of 25 men's players named as a nominee; from the group of 25, five finalists will be selected and announced on May 7. They will be honored on May 28 at the 2026
Tewaaraton Award Ceremony presented by Stifel at the Andrew W Mellon Auditorium, in Washington D.C. Collison is one of just two midfielders among the 25 nominees.
Collison has started all 12 games for the Blue Jays this season and currently leads the team in scoring with 24 goals and 12 assists for 36 points. His 24 goals rank second on the team and his 12 assists rank third. Collison counts five hat tricks, seven multi-goal and nine multi-point games to his credit this season.
With his 24 goals, 12 assists and 36 points this season, Collison has boosted his career totals to 94 goals and 43 assists for 137 points. He is Johns Hopkins' career active leader in goals and points and ranks second in assists. Among players who have played primarily midfield at Johns Hopkins, Collison ranks fourth in goals and points and he is bidding to become JHU's first, four-time USILA All-American since Paul Rabil (2005-08).
Founded in 2001, The Tewaaraton Award, presented by Stifel, is an annual honor recognizing the most outstanding American college lacrosse men's and women's players. The men's selection committee is composed of 18 current and former college coaches and is led by chair Jack Emmer as well as vice chair Bill Tierney.
Johns Hopkins (8-4) is currently ranked seventh in the nation by the USILA, Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse. The Blue Jays earned the top seed in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament and will play the winner of the quarterfinal game between Michigan and Ohio State in the semifinals at Rutgers on April 30 (3 pm | BTN).
