Nine Blue Jays Honored as Big Ten Announces All-Conference Honors

ROSEMONT, IL – Nine Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse players were recognized by the Big Ten with the announcement of the all-conference honors this afternoon. Five were named to the All-Big Ten Team, three on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and one on the Sportsmanship Team.
 
Ava Angello, Lacey Downey and Reagan O'Brien were named First Team All-Big Ten while Taylor Hoss and Hannah Johnson were named Second Team All-Big Ten. Sienna Chirieleison, Molly Hiney and Paige Willard were named to the All-Freshman Team and Sally Zinsner was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team.  
 
Downey and O'Brien were both unanimous selections to the All-Big Ten Team and Willard was a unanimous pick to the All-Freshman Team.
 
O'Brien earns First Team All-Big Ten honors for the second straight year. She leads the nation with 67 caused turnovers and 4.79 per game. She also ranks eighth in ground balls (51) and fifth in ground balls per game (3.64). She has had five or more caused turnovers in a game nine times this season. O'Brien is Johns Hopkins' all-time leader in career caused turnovers with 233 and is just two shy of the NCAA record.
 
Downey repeats as a First Team All-Big Ten pick in her second season with the Blue Jays. She leads the team and ranks 11th in the nation with 80 points. She also ranks fifth in the nation in ground balls (56), 18th in caused turnovers (37), 19th assists (36) and 23rd in caused turnovers. Downey has had nine games with five or more points this season, including three games with eight or more.
 
Angello grabs All-Big Ten honors for the third time in her career, after earning second team honors in 2024 and first team in 2025. She is just the third player in program history to earn three All-Big Ten honors. She ranks seventh in the nation in goals (56) and is 15th in points (78). In addition, Angello ranks 11th in the Big Ten in assists (22). She has notched five or more points in eight games this season and twice she has outscored JHU's opponents.
 
Hoss earns All-Big Ten honors for the first time in her career. She has posted career highs in goals (32), assists (36) and points (68) this season. She ranks 19th in the nation in assists and is eighth in the Big Ten in points. Hoss has tallied five or more points seven times this season and twice tied her career-high with seven points.
 
Johnson picks up her first career All-Big Ten accolade. She has totaled 23 caused turnovers and 22 ground balls and notched her first career assist. Johnson has tallied 97 ground balls and 78 caused turnovers, along with 17 draw controls in 74 career games. She ranks 11th all-time in program history in career caused turnovers and needs two ground balls to move into the top-25.
 
Willard leads all freshmen on the team in goals (26) and points (34) and is second in assists (8). She ranks fourth overall on the team in points and goals and is fifth in assists. Willard has scored four or more points in six games this season, including a season-best six (4g, 2a) in the win at Duke.
 
Hiney leads Blue Jay freshmen and is fourth on the team with 22 caused turnovers. She also leads her classmates and is fourth on the team with 27 ground balls. She has also controlled 13 draws and handed out an assist in the win over Loyola. Among freshman in the Big Ten, Hiney ranks second in ground balls and caused turnovers.
 
Chirieleison lead JHU's freshmen class, and ranks third in the Big Ten among freshman, with nine assists. She also ranks second among her classmate in goals (16) and points (25). Overall, Chirieleison ranks fourth on the team in assists and fifth in points and goals. She has notched at least one point in 14 of 16 games this season and has had three points four times.
 
Zinsner was voted a captain just a few weeks after joining the Blue Jays as a graduate transfer. She has played in 13 games, with three starts, and has totaled three goals and four points.
