BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins grabbed a pair of national players of the week awards after its stunning come-from-behind win over eighth-ranked Stony Brook in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Taylor Hoss was named the IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week and
Reagan O'Brien was named the Co-Defensive Player of the Week. In addition, Hoss was named the Inside Lacrosse AXIA Time Player of the Week.
Hoss tied a school NCAA Tournament record with nine points in the win, including the game-winning goal. She scored three goals and handed out six assists to lead the Blue Jays to their first NCAA Division I Final Four. Hoss' fourth assist of the afternoon broke the school single season record, giving her 55 on the season. She also notched her 100
th point of the season in the win.
O'Brien, the NCAA's all-time leader in caused turnovers, had arguably two of the biggest of her career in the win over Stony Brook. Hopkins trailed by one with 1:39 to play, but O'Brien forced a turnover just six seconds later and that led to
Paige Willard's game-tying goal. With the game still tied and the clock ticking under 15 seconds, O'Brien forced another turnover and the Blue Jays cleared the ball 80 yards and it ended with a quick-stick finish for Hoss on the crease to win it.
