GETTYSBURG, PA – The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team delivered a dominant performance on day two of the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Gettysburg College on Saturday. Powered by four event titles, the Blue Jays built a commanding lead in the team standings heading into the final day of competition.
After nine scored events, Hopkins sits in first place with 136 points. Gettysburg (36), Swarthmore (34), Haverford (33) and Dickinson (31) round out the top five.
The Champions
Sydney Shock | Steeplechase
Shock became the eighth steeplechase champion in program history, claiming the title with a personal-best time of 10:41.35. Her mark ranks 11
th in Division III this season and fourth all-time at Johns Hopkins. The Blue Jays swept the podium, as
Cooper Brotherton earned her third career—and second consecutive—silver medal (10:47.85), while El
eni Alvarez secured bronze in 10:53.74.
Ia Reistad and
Evangeline Dunckley added valuable points with fifth- and sixth-place finishes, respectively. Reistad clocked a personal-best 11:21.65, while Dunckley followed with a personal-best 11:27.94.
Jaclyn Donoho | Heptathlon
Donoho captured her first outdoor conference title, and the seventh heptathlon championship in program history, with 4,224 points. She highlighted day two with first-place finishes in the long jump (4.90m) and javelin (32.64m), while also posting a personal-best 2:35.20 in the 800 meters.
Claudia Ouimet | Long Jump
Ouimet became the fifth long jump champion in program history with a winning mark of 5.60 meters. Her jump ranks 37
th in Division III this season and fifth all-time at Hopkins.
Chloe Zhang added a silver medal with a leap of 5.43 meters.
4x800-Meter Relay
The quartet of
Sofia Fernandez,
Emily Roskowski,
Lily Tremba and
Adriana Catalano captured the program's sixth 4x800-meter relay title, clocking 9:18.74—the eighth-fastest time in school history. The victory also marks Hopkins' third consecutive title in the event.
Erika Ezumba earned a silver medal in the discus with a personal-best throw of 43.14 meters. Her mark ranks 35
th nationally this season, third in program history and represents the first discus silver medal in school history.
Donoho added a silver medal in the high jump (1.55m), while Ouimet took bronze with the same height.
Hopkins will be heavily represented in Sunday's finals, highlighted by a dominant showing in the 800 meters, where the Blue Jays claimed six of eight qualifying spots.
Emma Kothari led the field with a meet-record and personal-best 2:09.91, which ranks ninth in Division III this season and fourth in program history. She is joined by
Hanna Bruno (2:15.04),
Ani Wedemeyer (2:11.44),
Mackenzie Setton (2:15.24),
Lena Cakulev (2:17.85) and
Kayla Ritzman (2:18.33).
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Lorna Arcese paced four Hopkins qualifiers with the top preliminary time of 1:04.86.
Lianne Saussy (1:06.53),
Julia Widen (1:07.75 | PR) and
Evelyne Kim (1:09.10) also advanced.
Mirra Klimov led a group of four Blue Jays into the 100-meter dash final, posting the fastest qualifying time at 12.18.
Dominique Thomas (12.47), Ouimet (12.46) and
Anna Zinsser (12.84) also secured spots.
In the 200 meters,
Ellie Lewis (25.60) leads a trio of Hopkins qualifiers, joined by Zinsser (25.98) and
Leah Valentine (26.15).
Gabrielle Moore (57.92),
Madison Moore (58.09) and
Ryan Bigelow (59.47) advanced to the 400-meter final, while Ouimet (14.78) and Kim (16.44) qualified for the 100-meter hurdles.
Hopkins returns to action Sunday, May 3, for the final day of competition, aiming to defend its team title and secure its 16
th consecutive Centennial Conference championship.
