LA CROSSE, WI – The Johns Hopkins men's outdoor track & field team opened competition Thursday at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Veterans Memorial Stadium, hosted by the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse.
Competing in the decathlon, junior
Sebastian Tangelson completed the first five events of competition and sits 20
th overall with 3,252 points heading into Friday. His top finish of the day came in the shot put, where he placed 10
th with a throw of 11.52 meters.
Caleb Tenney and
Connor Oiler each secured spots in their respective event finals. Tenney recorded the second-fastest qualifying time in the 1,500 meters, crossing in 3:50.22 to advance to Saturday's final as he looks to become the first 1,500-meter national champion in program history.
Oiler advanced to Friday's steeplechase final after posting the 10
th-fastest qualifying time at 9:03.48. He will look to capture the Blue Jays' first national title in the event.
Hopkins returns to action Friday, May 22, for the second day of competition at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
