WESTMINSTER, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's track & field team competed in its penultimate meets of the regular season on Saturday, splitting action between the ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships at McDaniel College and the West Chester Last Chance Meet at West Chester University as the Blue Jays continued their push for qualifying marks ahead of the NCAA Championships.
Hopkins made a major impact at the West Chester Last Chance Meet, where the Blue Jays competed exclusively in the 800 meters. Freshman
Ani Wedemeyer led the way with a winning, personal-best time of 2:09.81. The mark ranks 10
th nationally in Division III this season, fourth in program history and sets a new Hopkins freshman record.
Lorna Arcese followed with a third-place finish and a personal-best 2:10.84, good for 22
nd nationally and eighth all-time at Hopkins, while
Diana Valentini placed fourth in a personal-best 2:11.15, which ranks 28
th nationally and ninth in program history.
At the ECAC Championships,
Lianne Saussy headlined a strong showing for the Blue Jays with an event title in the 400-meter hurdles. Saussy crossed the line in a personal-best 1:02.31, the second-fastest time in program history and the 23
rd-fastest mark in Division III this season. Hopkins also dominated the remainder of the event standings, with
Julia Widen placing third (1:08.79),
Madison Moore taking fourth (1:08.79),
Evelyne Kim finishing fifth (1:08.91) and
Gabrielle Moore placing sixth (1:09.03).
Kim added another title for the Blue Jays in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking a personal-best 15.39 that ranks seventh in school history.
Clarissa Newman also secured an ECAC title in the pole vault, clearing 3.75 meters to record the 29
th-best mark in Division III this season.
In the 100-meter dash,
Mirra Klimov led a trio of Blue Jays with a first-place finish in 12.03, a time that ranks 37
th nationally.
Leah Valentine added a fifth-place finish with a personal-best 12.49, while
Anna Zinsser placed sixth in 12.58.
Hopkins returns to action on Monday, May 11, at the Widener Final Qualifier, the Blue Jays' final opportunity to post qualifying marks for the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
