Kruntchev Named Centennial Defensive Player of the Week

Sophomore Goalie Posted Two Shutouts, Allowed One Goal in Three Games Last Week

LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins sophomore goalie Ella Kruntchev has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in a 1-0-2 week for the Blue Jays.  This is the first time in her career that Kruntchev has been honored by the Centennial Conference.
 
Kruntchev anchored a Johns Hopkins defense that allowed just one goal in the three games last week.  She posted five saves in a 0-0 tie at fifth-ranked Messiah, added three saves in a 1-1 tie at Denison and then had a pair of saves in a 3-0 win at Kenyon.  For the week, Kruntchev had a 0.33 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.
 
On the year, Kruntchev has played all 450 minutes in goal for the Blue Jays and sports a 0.40 goals against average and a .895 save percentage.  She currently ranks second in the Centennial Conference in goals against average and third in save percentage.  In addition, her three shutouts on the year are tied for the league lead.
 
Johns Hopkins (3-0-2) will return to action on Wednesday, September 16 when the Blue Jays welcome Penn State Harrisburg to Homewood Field (4 pm).
