Seidman Named Centennial Defensive Player of the Week

Sept. 10, 2001

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Johns Hopkins senior defensive end Adam Seidman has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for games played on September 8, it was announced today. Seidman helped lead Johns Hopkins to a season-opening 34-3 win over visiting Washington & Lee last Saturday. The 31-point margin of victory was the largest for the Blue Jays in a season-opener since 1959 and the three points allowed were the fewest by the Blue Jays in an opener since 1974.

After playing his first three seasons as an outside linebacker, Seidman made the move to defensive end this season and wasted little time making an impact. Seidman led a Johns Hopkins defense that limited the Generals to just 164 yards of total offense and 27 yards rushing. He posted a team-high six solos tackles, including one sack. Washington & Lee ran just 53 offensive plays, 15 of which were incomplete passes.

Johns Hopkins will look for its fourth 2-0 start in the last five years when the Blue Jays travel to Rochester this Saturday to take on the Yellowjackets. This will be the first-ever meeting between Johns Hopkins and Rochester and the game will also be the first for a Johns Hopkins football team in upstate New York since October 9, 1966, when the Blue Jays played at Hobart.
