Johns Hopkins Rolls Past Rochester In Football, 28-6

Sept. 15, 2001

Rochester, NY - Running back Scott Martorana scored three touchdowns to lead the Johns Hopkins football team to a 28-6 win over the University of Rochester Saturday afternoon.

After Rochester took a 3-0 lead on a 31-yard field goal by Chris Johnston, Martorana scored on a 42-yard run to give Hopkins a lead it would not relinquish.

After another Johnston field goal cut the Blue Jays' lead to a point, Martorana scored from six yards out with 13:15 remaining in the second quarter to make it a 14-6 game. Just over two minutes later, Martorana ran 25 yards for his third touchdown.

Steve Stache scored from one yard out with 9:04 left in the second quarter to make the score 28-6, and the Hopkins defense shut out Rochester the rest of the way.

Hopkins improves to 2-0 on the season and will host Bridgewater on Friday at 7 p.m. Rochester falls to 1-1.

More information will be available later Saturday.
