Baltimore, MD - Johns Hopkins freshman midfielder Meighan Roose (York, ME/York) scored off a rebound 4:13 into the first overtime period to lead the No. 16 Blue Jays to a 1-0 win over Dickinson in field hockey action Saturday afternoon at Homewood Field.
Hopkins improved to 7-4 overall and remained the only team in the Centennial Conference without a league loss with a 3-0 mark, while Dickinson fell to 5-6 overall and 1-3 in the league.
In the overtime period, Dickinson goalkeeper Marissa Giorgio stopped a shot by JHU junior forward Jenny Farrelly (Clinton Township, NJ/North Hunterdon), but the rebound went right to Roose, who beat Giorgio from about 10 yards out to give the Blue Jays their third straight win.
Hopkins out-shot the Red Devils 9-3 in regulation, but Giorgio kept the game scoreless by making seven saves. JHU senior goalkeeper Missi Schafhauser (Haddon Heights, NJ/Haddon Heights) stopped two shots to keep the Red Devils off the board. Dickinson had a penalty corner at the end of regulation, but could not get off a shot.
The Blue Jays host non-conference opponent Catholic University Monday at 7 p.m.
