Baltimore, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team closed out its regular season on Saturday by defeating Bryn Mawr, 8-1. The Blue Jays finished the season with a 7-7 overall record and a 7-3 mark in the Centennial Conference, while the Owls fell to 5-13 overall and 3-6 in league play.
Sophomore Vandna Jerath (Augusta, GA/Augusta Prep) defeated Clementine King 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, while junior Cara Loeys (Oxshott Surrey, England/American Community School) topped Bertina Hu 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3. Freshman Amanda Leese (Amherst, NH/Bishop Guertin) posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Jen Mansh at No. 4, junior Liz Crowe (Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) defeated Vivian Bishay 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5, and freshman Pauline Pelletier (Arlington, TX/MB Lamar) topped Jamie Hom 6-3, 1-2, def. at No. 6.
Bryn Mawr picked up its only point at No. 2 singles as Abby Fritz needed a third set tiebreaker to defeat sophomore Michelle Liang (Rochester, NY/Brighton) 6-4, 1-6, 10-7.
Hopkins also took all three doubles points, as Loeys and Liang defeated King and Hu 8-4 at No. 1 while Jerath and freshman Jill Seidman (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove) edged Fritz and Mansh 8-5 at No. 2. Crowe and Leese completed the doubles sweep for the Blue Jays as they defeated Bishay and Hom 8-2 at No. 3.
The Blue Jays will compete in the Centennial Conference Individual Championships this Friday through Sunday on the campus of Haverford College.
