Allentown, PA - The Muhlenberg women's tennis team won six of seven singles matches and two of three doubles matches to post a 7-2 win over Johns Hopkins in Centennial Conference action Saturday afternoon.
The Mules improved to 6-3 overall and 6-2 in league play, while the Blue Jays fell to 4-5 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
Freshman Amanda Leese (Amherst, NH/Bishop Guertin) was the only singles winner for Hopkins, as she remained unbeaten on the season with a 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 win over Emily Oster at No. 4.
Gena Ross defeated sophomore Vandna Jerath (Augusta, GA/Augusta Prep) 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Amy Schmidt topped sophomore Michelle Liang (Rochester, NY/Brighton) 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2. Mackenzie Park posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory over junior Cara Loeys (Oxshott Surrey, England/American Community School) at No. 3, Sarah Neibler needed three sets to overcome junior Liz Crowe (Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) 1-6, 6-1, 10-1 at No. 5, and Megan Schreiber defeated freshman Pauline Pelletier (Arlington, TX/MB Lamar) 8-6 at No. 6.
Ross and Parke edged Liang and Loeys 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, while Schmidt and Oster topped Jerath and freshman Jill Seidman (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove) 8-1 at No. 2. Leese and Crowe picked up the No. 3 doubles point for the Blue Jays with a 9-8 (7-2) win over Niebler and Schreiber.
The Blue Jays return to action Saturday when they travel to Haverford for a 1 p.m. contest with the Fords.
