BALTIMORE, Md. ? Johns Hopkins junior defensive end Alan Cody (North Bergen, NJ/St. Peter's Prep) has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in Johns Hopkins' 9-6 loss against Muhlenberg last Saturday. This is the second consecutive week that a Johns Hopkins player has earned the honor as junior cornerback Adam Colicchio was the Centennial Conference's Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Week last week after the Blue Jays beat Gettysburg.

Cody registered a career-high 12 tackles, including five for losses and 2.5 sacks, in the game against the Mules. Cody's previous career-high for tackles was 10, while his five tackles for losses and 2.5 sacks were also personal bests. Cody's efforts helped the Blue Jays hold the Mules to just 224 yards of total offense, while the nine points are the fewest Hopkins has allowed this season.

After seven games Cody now ranks third on the team with 44 tackles on the year. He also ranks second on the team with a career-high 5.5 sacks and is tied for second with 12 tackles for losses. He also has one forced fumble and one fumble recovery to his credit.

Johns Hopkins is currently 5-2 on the year and 2-2 in the Centennial Conference. The Blue Jays will travel to Ursinus on Saturday before closing the season with back-to-back home games against Hampden-Sydney and McDaniel. Hampden-Sydney (18th) and McDaniel (19th) were both ranked in the top 20 in the most recent AFCA Division III Coaches' Poll. A win against Ursinus would give the Blue Jays a perfect 4-0 record in road games this season. The last time JHU went undefeated on the road was in 1998, when Hopkins won all five of its road games.
