BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team lost to Muhlenberg 7-2 on Thursday afternoon in the regular season finale.
The Blue Jays fell to 7-4 overall and 7-3 in the Centennial Conference with the loss, while the Mules move to 12-3 and 10-0 in the Centennial Conference, which clinches the Conference Championship for the Mules.
Junior Michelle Liang (Rochester, NY/Brighton) and senior Cara Loeys (Surrey, England/American Community School) lost to Gena Ross and Amy Schmidt at No. 1 doubles, while freshman Priya Puri (Wayzata, MN/The Blake School) and sophomore Amanda Leese (Amherst, NH/Bishop Guertin) topped Mackenzie Parke and Pam Kimmelman at No. 2. Freshman Meghan Hasenauer (Weston, CT/Greens Farms Academy) and sophomore Jill Seidman (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove) improved to 8-0 on the year by posting an 8-3 victory over Emily Oster and Sarah Niebler at No. 3 doubles.
Ross defeated Liang Ross at No. 1 singles, while Schmidt defeated Leese at No. 2 singles. Puri lost to Parke at No. 3 singles and Loweys dropped her match to Oster at No. 4 singles. Hasenauer was topped by Kimmelman at No. 5 singles, and senior Liz Crowe (Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) was defeated by Megan Schreiber at No. 6 singles rounding out the singles sweep for the Mules.
The Blue Jays will next participate in the Centennial Conference Championships this weekend.
