COLLEGEVILLE, PA - After Johns Hopkins led 1-0 and 2-1 in the first half, Ursinus scored three straight goals to win 4-3 in the Centennial Conference field hockey tournament semifinals and advance to the championship game. The Blue Jays entered the game as the #4 seed, while the Bears were the top seed and #2 team in the STX/NFHCA Division III Poll.

Ursinus (17-2, 10-0 CC) hosts the winner of today's other semifinal game - McDaniel vs. Gettysburg at 1:30 pm - in the tournament championship game tomorrow at 1 pm. Johns Hopkins (10-9, 6-4 CC) awaits a potential ECAC Championship berth, which will be announced by the conference on Monday.

The Blue Jays went up 1-0 on the #2 team in the nation when senior Caite Kappel scored off a pass from freshman Adair Landy 9:39 into action. After trailing for over six minutes, Ursinus got on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal by sophomore Lindsay Cappa at 16:14 to tie the game at one.

Landy answered quickly with a goal of her own, set up by junior Leah Dudley to regain the Blue Jay lead, 2-1, at 17:49. But Ursinus, which out-shot Hopkins 11-4 in the first half, put in one final score before the break. Junior Jess Rogers scored unassisted at 22:48, and the game was knotted at two. Ursinus also led Johns Hopkins in penalty corners, 5-3, at the half.

The Bears pulled away in the second half, wasting little time to double their score and dominating the Blue Jays 11-1 on shots and 7-2 on corners. Junior Jamie Zubrow took Hopkins' only shot of the period, while Rogers and Cappa each scored once more for Ursinus.

Rogers' second goal of the game came unassisted at 36:36 and Cappa scored off an assist from junior Melissa Buckley just over a minute later. Ursinus led 4-2 at 37:56 and held on for the final 32:04 to earn the win.

The Bears finished with a 22-5 lead on shots and 12-5 advantage on penalty corners. Johns Hopkins junior Dayna Eng made 12 saves, while Ursinus sophomore Jessica Lamina needed just two.
