ATHENS, OHIO - Two straight losses were enough for the sixth-ranked Blue Jays - enough to motivate them to end their losing skid and enough to inspire their first shutout win in six years. Sophomore Mary Key (Stevensville, MD/St. Mary's) and freshman Kadie Stamper (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) each scored four goals as the Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team (2-2, 2-1 ALC) rebounded from Friday night's upset loss to Ohio State and trampled Ohio University (1-4, 0-2 ALC) 14-0 at Peggy Pruitt Stadium.

The shutout win was the second for Hopkins in its seven-year history as a Division I program and its seventh overall at the Division I and III levels. The Blue Jays defeated California 13-0 on March 17, 1999 in their first year of Division I competition.

Hopkins scored its first goal 1:34 into the game when freshman Sarah Gallion (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) drove down the middle and dished to a waiting Sarah Walsh (Port Washington, NY/P.D. Schreiber) on the right side. The Blue Jays scored six more times before the break, including another goal for Walsh and a pair for Key and freshman Lauren Schwarzmann (Sykesville, MD/Century). Hopkins led 7-0 at halftime.

The Blue Jays held that pace throughout the second half, when Stamper scored three of her career-high four goals. Hopkins out-shot Ohio 27-8 overall and won 9 of 17 draw controls, including six by Stamper.

The Bobcats finished with eight shots (five on goal) but Hopkins junior Lauren Riddick (Crozet, VA/St. Anne's-Belfield) made five saves for her first career shutout.

Sophomore Dana Dobbie (Guelph, Ontario/Center Wellington) paced Ohio with four shots and six draw controls, while sophomore Jayme Levy (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) had six saves in goal.

Johns Hopkins has now won all four of its meetings with the Bobcats, including a 12-4 victory last year. Ohio finished last season fifth and was picked to finish fifth once again in this year's preseason ALC poll.

The Blue Jays are back on the road at Vanderbilt next Friday, March 18 at 6 p.m. EST (5 p.m. CST).
