BALTIMORE, MD - The honors continue to roll in for Johns Hopkins senior safety Chris Baldwin (Southampton, NJ/Bishop Eustace) after his effort in Saturday's 34-3 victory over St. Lawrence. Baldwin has been named the ECAC Southwest Defensive Player of the Week after previously earning the same honor from the Centennial Conference. This is the first time Baldwin has been honored by the ECAC in his career.

Baldwin enjoyed one of the finest games in school history as he set a Johns Hopkins record with three defensive touchdowns. After the Blue Jays built a 7-0 lead, Baldwin scored twice in a 19-second span to give Hopkins what would prove to be an insurmountable 21-0 lead late in the first quarter. His first score came on a 45-yard interception return after he jumped an inside route and raced untouched into the end zone. After the ensuing kickoff, he recovered a fumble on the Saints' first play from scrimmage and raced 32 yards down the sideline for his second touchdown.

The Blue Jays led 28-3 early in the fourth quarter when Baldwin capped his scoring efforts with a 28-yard interception return that accounted for the final points of the game. In addition to his three touchdowns, Baldwin also matched his career-high with 10 tackles and added a forced fumble as well.

Baldwin is currently tied for second in the nation in interceptions and tied for eighth in touchdowns and points scored. He was the only player in the nation to score three defensive touchdowns last week.

Johns Hopkins, which won its season-opener for the 10th time in 12 years, returns to action this Saturday when the Blue Jays travel to Randolph-Macon to take on the Yellow Jackets. Randolph-Macon opened the season with a 34-13 loss at King's (PA) on Saturday.
