BALTIMORE, MD - Already one of the most decorated players in school history, Johns Hopkins senior running back Andrew Kase (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) added yet another honor to his already impressive list of accomplishments as he has been named a Third Team All-American by d3football.com. Kase rushed for 1,540 yards and a school-record 22 touchdowns this season and paced the team in all-purpose yards (1,715), overall touchdowns (24) and points scored (145). His 24 overall touchdowns and 145 points scored were also school records, while his 1,715 all-purpose yards ranks third in school history. He added 20 receptions for 175 yards and two touchdowns and was named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year. He graduates as JHU's career leader in rushing yards (4,494), rushing touchdowns (44), overall touchdowns (51), points scored (307) and all-purpose yards (5,025).
In addition to earning Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors, Kase was also a First Team All-Centennial and First Team All-South Region selection. In his career he earned All-Centennial honors three times and all-region honors twice.
Since 1980 (when complete records become available), Kase is the 12th Johns Hopkins player to earn All-America honors from at least one organization and the 12 players have combined to earn 22 All-America citations. Kase is the first running back to join this group.
Johns Hopkins posted a 10-3 record, won the Centennial Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2009. The Blue Jays finished the season ranked eighth in the final AFCA Division III Coaches Poll and 11th in the final d3football.com poll.
