Keene State Slips Past Johns Hopkins, 10-9 In Sixth

PHOENIX, AZ - Leading after the top of the fourth, the Johns Hopkins baseball team wasn't able to hang on against Keene State on Monday in the midst of the RussMatt Invitational in Phoenix, AZ. The Blue Jays (3-4) regained the lead in the sixth, but two Keene State runs in the bottom of the inning gave it the 10-9 win.

Junior Brian Youchak was the first man on base in the first and came around to score after a double from senior Chris Huisman in the first inning.

In the second, sophomore Jesse Sikorski singled and advanced to third after a James Teta double. Swarr followed with a double of his own as Sikorski and Teta both came around to score in the process to give Hopkins a 4-0 lead.

Keene State added three runs in the bottom of the second to make it 4-3.

Youchak scored in the fourth for the Blue Jays before Keene State took over and notched four runs, taking a 8-6 lead.

Sikorski homered in the fifth to score another for JHU and Youchak scored after two errors in the sixth to tie it at 8-8.

A pair of runs for Keene State in the sixth put the Blue Jays away as Hopkins was only able to score one more run in the eighth.

Youchak hit two doubles, going 4-for-5 on the day.

The Blue Jays face SUNY Brockport and Springfield on Tuesday in the RussMatt Invitational.
