Hartje Named D3baseball.com All-American

Catcher Received Second Team Recognition

EASTLAKE, OH – The Johns Hopkins baseball program earned national recognition this week as catcher Clay Hartje was named a D3baseball.com All-American, announced Thursday.

Hartje garnered Second Team honors, becoming the lone Blue Jay selected to the 2026 D3baseball.com All-America Team. Hopkins has now produced at least one D3baseball.com All-American in four consecutive seasons and brings the program total to 23. Hartje also becomes just the fourth catcher in program history to earn D3baseball.com All-America recognition, joining John Swarr (2010), Ryan Orgielewicz (2017) and Caleb Cyr (2024).

The honor marks the first All-America selection of Hartje's career following an explosive junior campaign. A two-time D3baseball.com Team of the Week selection and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division III Hitter of the Week honoree, Hartje owns a .340/.483/.742 slash line with a team-leading 1.225 OPS.

The catcher has totaled 54 hits, 66 RBIs, 12 doubles and a team-best 16 home runs while drawing 43 walks, the second-most on the team.

Hartje was especially dominant during the Centennial Conference Tournament, earning Most Valuable Player honors after hitting .643 (9-for-14) with 18 RBIs and six home runs, including two grand slams. He posted an astounding 2.671 OPS across the tournament.

Hopkins opens play at the 2026 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship on Friday, May 29, against Baldwin Wallace in Eastlake, Ohio. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m.
