BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team wrapped up its regular season on Saturday with a win at Haverford and a loss at Delaware. The Blue Jays shut out the Fords, 9-0, to complete their fourth straight undefeated Centennial Conference slate. The Blue Jays then traveled to Newark, DE and dropped a 7-0 decision to the Blue Hens. Hopkins is now 13-8 overall and 10-0 in the Centennial Conference.

Against the Fords, the Blue Jays started at strong, sweeping all three doubles and dropping just four total games in the process. At first, senior Anita Bhamidipati (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township) and sophomore Carolyn Warren (Boulder, CO/Fairview) won 8-3 over Jaclyn Porter and Katie Wettick. Sophomore Courtney Boger (Doylestown, PA/Doylestown) and freshman Nandita Krishnan (Chennai, India/Sishya School) beat Helen Fisun and Fumiko Shogase, 8-1, at second. And at third, senior Ellen Berlinghof (Dresher, PA/Upper Dublin) and freshman Candace Wu (Yorba Linda, CA/Valencia) did not lose a game in beating Katie Drooyan and Sarah Gibson, 8-0.

In singles action, Hopkins swept all six matches in straight sets to complete the shutout. Krishnan won her eighth straight match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at first over Wettick. Bhamidipati won her seventh straight, beating Porter at second, 6-1, 6-0. Sophomore Mallory Willenborg (Miami Shores, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas) won at third, beating Fisun, 6-0, 6-3. Freshman Andrea Berlinghof (Dresher, PA/Upper Dublin) beat Drooyan at fourth, 6-4, 6-1. At fifth, freshman Ariel Several (Gladwyne, PA/Friends' Central School) beat Shogase, 6-1, 6-1. And at sixth, Ellen Berlinghof did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Sarah Gibson to finish her career undefeated in regular season Centennial Conference singles matches (29-0).

In the afternoon, the Blue Hens won two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead in the match. In Division I, doubles count as just one team point. Elena Barry and Montse Ripoll beat Bhamidipati and Warren, 8-3, at first. Samantha Carnall and Megan Doran won 9-7 at second over Boger and Krishnan. And at third, Hopkins earned its only win of the match as Ellen Berlinghof and Wu beat Amanda Halstrom and Kristen Mueller, 8-0.

In singles play, the Blue Hens swept all six matches to earn the win. At first, Warren won her first set, 6-4, over Doran before being forced to retire. At second, Barry won a close match over Krishnan, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (8-6). Ripoll lost just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win over Bhamidipati at third. Carnall beat Willenborg, 8-1, at fourth in a pro set. Halstrom and Wu also played a pro set at fifth, with Halstrom coming out on top, 8-7 (7-4). And at sixth, Mueller earned a hard-fought win over Ellen Berlinghof, 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 1-0 (11-9).

Hopkins has the week off to prepare for the Centennial Conference Tournament as the Blue Jays look to win their fourth straight and fifth overall title. As the top seed in the tournament, Hopkins will host its semifinal match on Saturday and the championship match on Sunday.
