BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins Department of Athletics rolled out the newest feature of its official web site today with the addition of an online auction section to HopkinsSports.com. The addition is the latest to the site, which underwent a complete redesign during the summer and has since added a photo store and free live streaming video of Johns Hopkins athletic events to go along with the online auctions.

The initial online auctions include:
• A game-worn Johns Hopkins football helmet.
• A game-worn 2008 Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse jersey.
• The opportunity to serve as a coach for a day when the Blue Jay football team hosts Juniata on October 30.
• The opportunity to experience a day in the life of the Johns Hopkins Sports Information Director (10-30-10).
Additional items will be added throughout the course of the year and will include various Johns Hopkins athleticsmemorabilia and different ways to experience Hopkins athletics (coach for a day, travel with a Johns Hopkins team to an away game, watch a Johns Hopkins athletic event from the sideline, guest PA Announcer, etc.).
"When we relaunched our web site in June we looked closely at some opportunities the redesigned site offered us," said Ernie Larossa, Associate Director of Athletics. "The online photo store has been very well received and we believe the online auctions will be very appealing to our fans as well. In many ways, the Department of Athletics is the window through which people view Johns Hopkins University. We are looking for interactive ways to open that window more than we have in the past and provide an experience that is not easily duplicated."
Each item available will have an initial bid listed with bid increments and length of time remaining on the item listed.
