BALTIMORE, MD - Junior Meghan Kellett scored a pair of goals to lead the Johns Hopkins field hockey team to a 5-1 win over visiting Dickinson Wednesday afternoon at Homewood Field. It was the 100th Centennial Conference win in the career of JHU head coach Megan Fraser. She is the first field hockey coach in conference history to reach the milestone. Hopkins evens its record at 7-7 overall and moves to 4-3 in conference play, while Dickinson falls to 4-10 overall and 1-7 in the Centennial.

Kellett put the Blue Jays on the board early, scoring just 1:37 into the contest. Senior Carly Bianco played a long ball to Kellett at the top of the circle, who then buried a low shot inside the left post. She followed that with her second of the day just over nine minutes later. Bianco had a long hit the set up the Blue Jays on a fast break in the Dickinson end. Freshman Alexa Lantiere tipped the ball, but Red Devils' goalie Katy Schlechtweg got a stick on it. However, Kellett was right there to collect the loose ball and put it home. Lantiere then scored her first career goal with 3:25 to play in the half. Bianco fired a shot off a Blue Jay corner and Schlechtweg made one of her 10 saves on the day. But Lantiere pounced on the rebound and slipped it past the defense to send Hopkins into the half with a 3-0 lead.

It didn't take long for Hopkins to get back on the scoreboard in the second half. Junior Liane Tellier scored off a rocket of a shot from the top of the circle at 39:59 to put the Blue Jays ahead by four. Katie Mersky would end the Blue Jays' shutout bid at 55:25 when she redirected a shot by Natalie Polk past junior Elizabeth Peijnenburg. Hopkins would get that one back however with just 3:34 to play. Senior Annie Shepard weaved through the Red Devil defense inside the circle and then dumped the ball down to sophomore Storm Kodde, who was all alone at the mouth of the goal, for her first of the season.

Senior Kim Stein made four saves in the first half to earn the win and Peijnenburg had three saves in the second. Hopkins outshot Dickinson, 24-12, though the Red Devils had seven corners to six for the Blue Jays.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, October 22 as the Blue Jays travel to Bryn Mawr to take on the Owls in Centennial Conference action. Game time is set for 11:00 am at Shillingford Field.
