Box Score

LANCASTER, PA - Seven-time defending champion Ursinus scored a pair of second half goals to defeat Johns Hopkins, 2-0, in the semifinals of the Centennial Conference Tournament at Tylus Field Saturday. The Blue Jays see their season end at 10-8, while the Bears improve to 15-3 and advance to the Centennial Conference Championship where they will face host and top-seeded Franklin & Marshall.

After a scoreless first half that saw senior Kim Stein make four saves for Hopkins, it was Ursinus who would break the ice first. Alyssa Thren scored just over 20 minutes into the second half on a shot from the right inside the far corner. Just a short time later, Corinne Freeman would give the Bears a two-goal lead scoring off a pass from Thren into the center of the cage. Hopkins had chances in the closing minutes with four shots but Bears' goalie Jill Lukens made a pair of saves to keep Ursinus on top.

Ursinus out shot Hopkins, 16-6, and had an edge in the corners (13-8). Stein finished with six saves for the Blue Jays to finish her career with 319 stops. That ranks her fourth in school history. Lukens also made six saves for the Bears to earn the win.
