WACO, TX - Johns Hopkins junior offensive tackle Armand Jenifer (Teaneck, NJ/Bergen County Academies) added yet another honor to his growing list of achievements today as he has been named to the 2012 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) NCAA Division III All-America First Team. The AFCA All-America team consists of just 25 players; 11 on offense, 11 on defense and three specialists. Jenifer is the first Johns Hopkins player since Ben Scott in 2006 to be named to this prestigious team.

A starter at right tackle in every game this season and 30 consecutive games dating back to the 2010 season, Jenifer is the leader of a Blue Jay offensive line that paved the way for a unit that averaged 36.8 points and 485.2 yards per game. Both of those averages are the second-highest in school history, while the Blue Jays set school records for total yards (5,823), plays (954), points scored (441), first downs (317), overall touchdowns (63) and rushing touchdowns (47). The 2012 season also marked the first time in school history that Johns Hopkins has averaged more than 250 yards rushing (252.8) and 230 yards passing (232.4).

Jenifer is one of just six juniors named to the AFCA All-America team; the remaining 19 players are all seniors. In addition, he is just the fourth Johns Hopkins offensive lineman since 1980 to earn All-America honors as he joins Ed Rodger (2010), Matt Weeks (2003) and David Perna (1999). Rodger played center, while Weeks and Perna were tackles.

Jenifer earned First Team All-Centennial Conference honors for the second consecutive season and also recently earned First Team D3football.com All-South Region honors. He is currently on the ballot for D3Football All-America honors as well.

Johns Hopkins posted a 10-2 record, won a fourth consecutive Centennial Conference title and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Playoffs this season. The Blue Jays also spent the entire season ranked in the top 25 for the second consecutive year.
