BALTIMORE, MD - The eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team lost just three games as it cruised to a 9-0 win over visiting McDaniel in Centennial Conference action Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays remain unbeaten in the conference with a 6-0 record and improve to 9-4 overall. The Green Terror slip to 6-10 on the season and 0-8 in the conference.
Senior Courtney Boger and freshman Kaitlin Pfisterer were 8-0 winners at first doubles, beating Carissa Grove and Brittany Starlings. The win for Boger was her 50th career doubles win, making her just the fourth player in program history to reach the mark. Sophomore Lauren Fields and freshman Shannon Libaw then won 8-0 at third over Nicole Arnold and Elisa O'Meara. Junior Andrea Berlinghof and freshman Carolyn Drogt closed out doubles with an 8-0 win over Devan Hamric and Kiersten Patron at second.
Boger pushed Hopkins lead in the match to 4-0 as she beat O'Meara 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles. Berlinghof then clinched the match with a win at third, beating Hamric 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Abby Clark dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win at first over Grove. Pfisterer won by the same score at second, as she defeated Starlings. Freshman Kaitlyn Coleman also lost just one game as she beat Patron, 6-1, 6-0 at fourth. Drogt was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Arnold at sixth.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, April 14 as the Blue Jays journey to Allentown, PA to face the Muhlenberg Mules. The Centennial Conference match is slated for an 11:00 am start.
