BALTIMORE, MD - Seniors Thomas de Lyon and Stephen Kingery and sophomore Langdon Froomer each had five-goal games on the day to lead host Johns Hopkins to a pair of wins over Monmouth (IL) and Connecticut College at the 2013 CWPA Division III Championship. The Blue Jays opened with a 20-13 win over the Scots and wrapped up the day with a 21-7 win over the Camels to win their bracket.

Hopkins stormed out to a 9-1 lead after the first quarter versus Monmouth behind four goals from junior Wes Hopkins and a hat trick from Kingery. The second quarter was an even stanza with three goals on each side as the Blue Jays led 12-4 at the half. The teams traded goals in the quarter with Tony Marino having the final save for the Scots. Monmouth got on the board first in the third quarter, but Hopkins answered with three straight to push out to a 15-5 lead. The teams traded goals over the final four and a half minutes and Hopkins led 19-8 heading into the fourth. It was also Scots in the final quarter as they outscored the hosts 5-1 to account for the 20-13 final.

Kingery and Hopkins each scored five goals to pace the Blue Jay offense and Kingery's five goals are a career high. Hopkins, Froomer, sophomore Kevin Yee, and freshman Matt Fraser handed out two assists apiece while Yee also notched a hat trick. Fraser drew seven ejections and had five steals, while sophomore Erik Henrikson made seven stops in two quarters of action. Junior Danny Ovelar played the third and fourth quarters and made four stops.

Once again Hopkins had a hot start as the Jays took a 5-1 lead after the first quarter. Froomer put the Blue Jays on the board early, scoring just 18 seconds in for the first of his career-high five goals. Robert Spencer answered quickly for the Camels before the Jays scored four unanswered. Nick DiLeo opened the second quarter scoring for Conn College, but it was quickly matched by Froomer's second of the day. Jason Robb answered with his only goal of the match to pull the Camels back within three at 6-3. But Hopkins would score the next six goals in a run that bridged halftime and saw the home team take a 12-4 lead. The Blue Jays would outscore the Camels 8-4 over the remainder of the game to take the 21-7 win.

Froomer and de Lyon scored five goals apiece while Hopkins dished out five helpers. Yee, Fraser, Kingery and junior Johnny Beal scored two goals apiece and Fraser also handed out three assists. Henrikson made six saves to earn the win in the cage.

Hopkins will face Washington & Jefferson, which finished second in its bracket, in the semifinals at 9:00 am on Sunday, October 20. MIT will face Connecticut College in the second semifinal at 10:15 am. The championship match is scheduled for a 2:30 pm start.
